Programs Overview
These three programs are for our older skaters and are "black puck" hockey programs because they use...that's right: a black hockey puck instead of a youth blue puck.
10U Squirts hockey is for 9- & 10-year-olds. If you're Squirt-aged, new to hockey, and looking to get started - please email squirts@middletonyouthhockey.com for assistance.
12U Peewees hockey is for 11- & 12-year-olds.
14U Bantam hockey is...well, you probably get the idea by now (13- & 14-years).
*These three program levels feature try-outs/evaluations at the beginning of the hockey season to place each player at an appropriate competitive and developmental level.
Register your Skater
1) Register your player with USA Hockey.
2) Log into (or create) your family MYH CrossBar account.
3) Register your player for the season with MYH in CrossBar.
4) Download the free CrossBar app (which pairs with our website and will provide access to schedules, communication tools, etc.) from your favorite mobile app store. Here are the links to the Apple Store version & Google Play version.
5) Sort equipment for the season. Locally, Play-it-Again Sports, Pure Hockey, Facebook Marketplace, and Sideline Swap are great places to start your search for new & used hockey gear.*
6) If you'd like other family members to receive MYH emails and access your skater's schedule & admin panel - create a CrossBar account for them and then link them to the account where you administer the youth hockey players in your family.
*All youth hockey players will need an approved neck protector this season due to USA Hockey changes - you must have this for the first practice.

The Season
Our main youth hockey season begins in October and ends in early March.
For each of these age levels, the number of practices and games each week can vary but generally include two weeknight practices and 1-3 games on weekends.
Program Fees
All program fees include a tournament fee. To qualify for goalie pricing a player must goaltend 75% to 100% of the time (per the head coach). All registrants are offered a payment plan option, at no additional cost, that breaks the full payment into two.

Hockey Locations
Practices are primarily held at Bob Suter's Legacy20 Arena in Middleton (aka Capitol Ice Arena) with the possibility of a practice at another local rink as needed. Games will be played against teams from around the state, so there may be some day travel for games.
Evaluations
Tryouts are conducted at the beginning of each season to determine a player's placement on a team (A, B, C, C2, etc) as numbers generally necessitate the need for multiple teams at each age level.
You can learn a lot more about the MYH evaluation process here.
Tournaments
Each of these age levels is likely to participate in several weekend tournaments. Typically, tournament fees are included in your registration. If your team decides to play in more than the tournaments scheduled by the club those tournaments will need to be funded by the team themselves. Parents are responsible for any hotel & transportation fees (though some financial assistance may be available through the MYH's financial assistance fund via application).
Girls Hockey
Middleton Youth Hockey is invested in providing quality girls hockey options. MYH has recently gained interest in a girls-only team at the Squirt level and is exploring options going forward, but we likely will not be able to offer one this season. We will try to provide that option whenever enough families are interested.
At the Squirt, Peewee and Bantam levels - Middleton Youth Hockey provides female skaters a choice to play co-ed hockey or join an area girls-only team or cross-roster on both teams.

*A release from MYH may be needed to play for these clubs (other than Verona, Sauk Prairie or Polar Caps) as your team is determined by your school district. Please email our club President at president@middletonyouthhockey.com for questions about the process.
Jerseys
First-year squirts and any players that are new to Middleton Youth Hockey club will need to order new game jerseys & socks. Jerseys may be reused from prior seasons (though MYH reserves the right to issue new jersey or logo designs for all teams - which may necessitate a new jersey purchase). A full jersey order for a new player includes:

A jersey & sock sizing session will be offered before the season and prior to our ordering dates. The first jersey order is generally planned for around September 1st each year. Please email gear@middletonyouthhockey.com with any equipment-related questions.
Volunteering
In order to keep our club, hockey games, and hockey teams functioning and our fees to play hockey as low as we can, each family (at mite-level and above) are required to volunteer 7 hours for a single skaters or 12 hours for a multi-skater family. The volunteer deposit is $200 for one skater and $400 total for two or more skaters. If you DO meet the hours required, your deposit will be fully returned to you at the end of the season. Unfortunately, if you DO NOT meet the volunteering requirements for the season, the club will keep your volunteering buyout money to improve the club, pay for ice time, replace rental gear, etc.
You can learn more about volunteering with Middleton Youth Hockey here.

The Middleton Youth Hockey club only functions due to the hard work and energy of our volunteers. Our parents, coaches, managers, board members, and other unpaid volunteers are what keep quality ice hockey happening for Middleton kids.
We're always, always, always looking for more help to improve our programs, the quality of education & competition we can offer our hockey players, communication with our hockey families & community, and more!
We understand that your families are super busy. We know hockey is expensive. We understand that you work, run a household, care for family members, volunteer elsewhere, and so much more! If you think that you might be able to find a few extra hours during the hockey season (or off-season) to help us improve Middleton Youth Hockey - we would love to know more. Please tell us a little bit more about what interests or excites you when you think about volunteering to improve our ability to serve our hockey players and our community! Email president@middletonyouthhockey.com to learn more. Thank you!
