Hockey Should Be a Great Place to Be
At Middleton Youth Hockey, we want kids to love hockey—and love being part of our hockey community.
That means creating an environment where players can work hard, make mistakes, challenge themselves, support one another, and have fun. It means coaches who teach and encourage, parents who support rather than pressure, and players who treat teammates, opponents, officials, and volunteers with respect.
Our culture is something we all create every day.
What We Believe
Kids Come First
Youth hockey should serve the development and experience of the child—not the other way around. We make decisions with the long-term growth, confidence, enjoyment, and well-being of our players in mind.
Effort Matters
We value preparation, persistence, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. Players don't have to be perfect. They do need to try, improve, and help their teammates do the same.
Everyone Belongs
Every player deserves to feel welcome, valued, and part of the team. We celebrate different abilities, personalities, backgrounds, and paths through hockey.
Compete With Character
We want players who compete hard and play to win—but who also know how to win with humility, lose with grace, and treat others with respect.
Coaches Are Teachers
Our coaches have an important responsibility beyond teaching hockey skills. Great coaching builds confidence, develops character, and helps young athletes become better teammates and people.
Families Are Partners
The best youth hockey experiences happen when coaches and families work together. We ask parents & guardians to encourage their players, respect coaches and officials, and keep the focus where it belongs: on the child's experience and development.
CARDS with Character
We believe character deserves to be recognized just as much as goals, assists, and wins.
Our CARDS With Character program recognizes players, coaches, and volunteers who demonstrate the qualities we want to see throughout our hockey community.

What Does It Look Like?
Culture isn't something we can create with a slogan. It's reflected in the little things:

This is Cardinal Hockey.
We won't get everything right. But we will keep working together to create the kind of hockey environment where kids can develop their skills, build confidence, make friends, learn important life lessons, and fall in love with the game.
